THE UNUSUAL CALLING OF CHARLIE CHRISTMAS (FILM SCREENING)

The Unusual Calling of Charlie Christmas is the story of a socially awkward, thirty-two year old high school janitor who is inspired to become a costumed vigilante in his small Oklahoma town. Bullied and overlooked his entire life, Charlie receives his ‘higher calling’ even as his tender friendship with his neighbor, a meek and mysterious woman named Gracie, begins to develop into something more powerful.

As Charlie begins to craft his crime fighting alter ego, the line between costumed hero and everyday reality begins to blur. He is guided by an apparition of Jesus as he begins to confront both the loss of his parents as a child and his fear of “getting hit” which stem from his own experience of being bullied.

Flush with his new found conviction to rid the town of bullies he finds himself in a personal confrontation with Gracie’s abusive boyfriend Brad. The conflict between Charlie and Brad serves as a parallel to Charlie’s attempt to clean up the town’s criminal element. While Charlie dispenses his own brand of “masked” justice to various street thugs and gangs he steps out from behind the mask to deal with Brad making this conflict more visceral.

Charlie loves Gracie, if only at a distance, and Gracie sees Charlie as someone she may have loved if life had only taken a different path. Although their relationship seems hopeless and at times quietly desperate, it more than anything else is the catalyst for change in both of their lives.

TROMA FILMS PRESENTS: CLASS OF NUKE 'EM HIGH (FILM SCREENING)
TROMA FILMS PRESENTS: CLASS OF NUKE 'EM HIGH
Part of Supercon's 40 Years of Troma Celebration

Directed by Richard W. Haines, Michael Herz, Lloyd Kaufman
Starring Janelle Brady, Gil Brenton, Robert PrichardClass of Nuke’Em High, the timeless classic of readin’, writin’ and radiation, is available for the first time ever in this unrated Director’s Cut. When first released in theaters in 1986, Class of Nuke’Em High became an instant sensation. Its unique blend of horror and humor was cheered by audiences and celebrated by critics. The film spawned two sequels and legions of fans. At Tromaville High School, located a stone’s throw from the local Nuclear Power Plant, the students are getting brighter. In fact, they’re beginning to develop a Troma-green glow. Innocent students mutate into sex-crazed psychos, the Honor Society’s turned into carnivorous, kinky cretins, and the slimy monster stalking the hallways isn’t the principal! The Director’s Cut of Class of Nuke ‘Em High has been lovingly restored by co-director Lloyd Kaufman (who developed the film during detention) and the Troma Team. Never-before-seen footage (found in the Tromaville High School’s girls’ bathroom) has been added. The film includes a special introduction from the Tromaville Cafe featuring Toxie, Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D, The Tromettes, and Lloyd Kaufman.

MY MOTHER'S JADE (FILM SCREENING)
Ling, A teenager born and raised in the U.S., has a tendency toward American things: she speaks English even when spoken to in Chinese, isn’t very conservative about the way she dresses (much to her Tiger Mom’s dismay), and is secretly dating an older white boy whose calling in life is rock n’ roll. One night, Ling’s mom walks in on what looks like secret boyfriend halfway through the window and into Ling’s bed. What starts as a lecture on house rules quickly escalates into a physical fight that leaves Ling feeling she’s lost her mother, and her mother wondering if they ever had each other to begin with.

RETURN TO NUKE 'EM HIGH VOL. 1 "FILM PREMIERE" - HOSTED BY LLOYD KAUFMAN
Lloyd Kaufman hosts the Florida PREMIERE of Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Vol. 1!

Return to Nuke 'Em High is a hilarious, thoughtful sci-fi “Event Film” with themes ripped straight from today’s headlines: the contamination and degradation of the world’s food supply, rampant bullying, and LGBTQ love triumphing over prejudice and violence. The film, a revisiting of Troma’s 1986 Class of Nuke ‘Em High is in the same vein as other classics such as Class of 1984, Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, and Carrie, but seen through the unique vision of Lloyd Kaufman and the Troma Team. Welcome to Tromaville High School where, unfortunately, the glee club has mutated into a vicious gang of Cretins. Chrissy and Lauren, two innocent lesbian lovers, must fight not only the Cretins, mutants and monsters but also the evil Tromorganic Foodstuffs Conglomerate. Can they and Kevin the Wonder Duck save Tromaville High School and the world?

DO NOT MISS THIS ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THIS AMAZING PIECE OF ART WITH LLOYD HIMSELF! Q&A to follow screening. No one under 17 will be admitted without an adult.
